Default Bad Starter?

I have an 01 ITR with a JDM ITR motor. Over the last few months their have been 3 times when the car would not start. The first is a couple days after my alarm install. I thought maybe they hooked up the starter kill wrong but after coming back 20 minutes later it fired right up. This is how I have worked around this problem the few times it has come up. Just came back a bit later and it fires right up.

Yesterday morning and this afternoon however it still wont start. The battery is new and all electrical accessories work. The only thing I hear once I try to start it is a slight hum. Does this sound like a starter, starter solenoid, fuel pump, or something else? Thank you

check all the ground connections. make sure you clean the surface up with sandpaper so they have good contact.

my car didnt start after i swap a motor it was the ground cable from valve cover to the frame.
and make sure the tranny one is connected as well
pretty much check all ground connection

How many connections to ground are there from the engine and tranny?

While cranking it over, have someone lightly tap the starter with a wrench/hammer/something...if it starts right up, then the plunger in the starter is getting stuck.

Good info. I gonna try these tips, my R is having the same problem. She has a new battery that was working just fine untill a few days ago. Now she won't start just like in the OP's case.

If you got a test light, hook it up to the batt. and touch the test light to the input wire on the starter, if it lights up/beeps you have a signal going to the starter, just the starter isnt turning. So most likely bad starter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. good luck.
