Default Turbo temperature

Another question,

Running my turbo and reading the coolant temperature, its showing normally im hitting 190-200 driving and when i drive over 80, goes up to 210. Not sure if I have air in the line or if its the huge intercooler blocking my radiator from gettnig air. I currently have the fans running all the time to help with the cooling but was wondering if this was normal. Should I purchase a thermostat? Everything is stock.

190-200 is ok it is normal operating range. 210 is still ok when you get near 230 that is bad, but it shouldn't be that high if you are going 80. Sounds like you have something causing the air to divert from your radiator at higher speeds. do you have a front lip or cooling plate or did you get rid of the stock plastic shield that helps funnel air from the front dam to the radiator?

The fans don't need to be on all the time. Wire them correctly and see if it helps first. Thermostat is not your problem. Your problem is airflow through the radiator.

Since there not much air flow hitting the rad due to the intercooler wouldnt the fans running all the time help?

I was trying to see of some way to route some air to the radiator but there isnt much room..

Yes I got that from your post what I am saying is at higher speeds certian aero peices can actually divert air away from your grill opening. Or if you got rid of the plastic shroud that covers the gap between hood latch and the front bumper air will come in through your intercooler then run up over your radiator as it will take the path of least resistance.

Still like I said 180-200 is normal and ok 210 is even ok 230 or more and you better start watching it.

To give you some background on this normal operating temp for a bone stock AP2 is 180-205 which equates to 8 bars on the dash display to trip that 9th bar you need to hit 232 degrees or more that is why I say 230 or more you better start watching it as it should never light that 9th bar.

Do you still have the plastic shroud that goes under your bumper and connects to you chassis, if not you should pick one of those up and install it.

Also, wire the fans back into the temp switch. You are not seeing any benefit from hard wiring them on all the time, in fact you will be losing power due to the higher (no constant) load on the alternator. The thermostat will open and let the water into the rad at the desired temp, the thermo switch is set to the same temp so at that time the fan will come on and cool that water. Let the system do it's job...
