Default Help 1988 Civic starting problem

Hello my 1988 Honda civic (dual point fuel injection)will not start every 2 -3 weeks usaully in the morning. The car will fire once and then it will just turn over but will not start. If you crank the car for 3-5 minutes straight it will eventually start firing and finally start, after that the car will start fine for another 2-3 weeks and do the same thing again.I need to fix this before I fry my starter and it is really starting to wear on my nerves. I have great spark, I checked all electrical connections , cleaned the ground on the thermostat housing ,changed fuel filter, had a recent tune up plugs wires etc, I checked the injector resistance on both injectors(dual point system, tested the main relay, fuel pump comes on with the key, I unhooked the fuel line at the throttle body and turned the key on and I gas comes out but stops after a couple of seconds is this normal? Shouldn't gas keep flowing till I key off? The computer did flash code 16 (injection?) and the check engine light is not on. Any help or suggestions would be great-thanks

next time u try starting it put your foot to the floor and crank. that will put the computer in to ''clear flood mode''. what that does is it does not pulse the injectors, which is helpful if you have a leaky injector, leaky fuel pressure regulator, or a bad coolant temp sensor. check the resistance in the coolant temp sensor before you start it. then check with a manual and see the spec. but it sounds like you have a leaky injector/fuel pressure regulator, considering you say it sits then cranks for 5 min

coolant temp sensor is good, swapped ecu for one out friends running car (no change) Distributor was brand new a year ago but I checked it out anyhow and everything tests perfect, I guess I am going to mess with the fuel pressure regulator, I know the car is old but it is in great shape ,runs great(when running!!) and gets relativaly good gas mileage anybody have any other suggestions??

it might be your igniter. this part can work for a few days and it might not depending on how you drive. if your car starts the first time then shuts off after 5-10 min then wont start after until your car cools down. then the igniter might be it.

is the red light on my computer(passenger side floor) supposed to stay on? When I turn the key on it flashes once and then it doesn't light up or flash anymore until I key off and turn the key back on
