Default nameplate tire PSI too low?

My wife's 2006 CRV has 30k miles (7.5k/yr). The OEM Dunlops are all wearing thin on inside and outside edges. They now need to be replaced. All four have similar wear so alignment wasn't an issue.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice until it was too late. The mechanic who maintains the vehicle said he always verifies inflation to nameplate on door jamb, which is 29/29. He checks inflation after completing an oil change or other service, so the tires are cold. I'm a bit miffed that he didn't notice the wear pattern much earlier. We probably would have gotten another year on these tires.

Has anyone else experienced edge wear at 29/29? I will increase pressure on the next set. Would 32/32 be appropriate?
