You're going to find it difficult to do much of anything to your car if you're on a tight budget. You should also be more specific. "What can I do to upgrade my car?" isn't much to work with. You first need to decide what you want to do with it. Are you going to make it faster, or just change it's appearance? Are you going to track it, race it, or just hardpark it? With a tight budget, you're most likely only going to be able to lower it, sprinkle it with some ebay accessories, slap on some Rotas and call it a day. Anyhow ..

For some creative inspiration, click here and flip through the picture thread. It's filled with ideas.

Also click here to read through the FAQs. Lots of helpful answers and DIY links in there.

If you're looking to make it faster on a tight budget, put a NOS kit in it. It's the least-expensive route to a little extra umph. Turbo kits, swaps and an NA build are likely out of your range.

The 7th generation Civic is not a cheap chassis to make a build of, when you consider it's a Honda.

Standard bolt-ons will net you near nothing in power, only making your car louder/noisier. You'd be better off leaving those components for the people who just want the noise.

I have a 2004 Civic LX as well. It really is not a cheap car to work with and parts can be a bitch to find. I am doing a complete engine rebuild on it, and slapping a few after market parts in for now. but as it stands. I have an AEM cold air Intake, Meagan racing header, custom exhaust, AEM Tru time cam gear, and dc strut tower bar. If i had the cash i was just going to swap out the engine for a K29A Type R engine.

I think you mean the K20A engine. I'd love to have a 2.9L K-series, though.
