Default Code 20 (Electrical Load Detector)

Ive got an obd1 b16a sir2 in my 92 integra. The car runs fine but im getting a code 2 (o2 sensor) and a code 20 (Electrical Load Detector) off a p28 ecu with a hondata s100 chip. First off my o2 sensor is a 4 wire, i'm not exactly sure which o2 sensor to buy for my motor. Second, i have no idea what a electrical load detector is or where its located. Also, the car makes a funny "arking" sound when idling. The sound comes from underneath the car somewhere and sounds like a loud spark. Ive tried asking sevral people i know about this and non of them were able to offer any help, so any help at all will be much appreciated. thanks

I have a 98 integra and the ELD is located in the engine bay fuse box. It's a brown box. I'm not sure if yours is the same but worth checking out. I had a ELD cel, replaced the brown box and still had the cel. Later replaced my battery and the cel went away for a little bit but came back. I don't have a check engine light, but when I do check for codes it's still there.

90-93 integra's dont have ELD. Everything will work fine without the ELD, if the check engine light is bothering you, just turn it off with your Hondata.

As for the weird sound coming from your car, it would be hard to diagnose the problem without actually hearing it first-hand.

really? so its the ecu not detecting one thats causing it to come up. so theres really no problem at all.

QFT! The ELD is located underneath the main fuse box in the engine bay, but the 90-93 Integra do not come with this sensor. As for the weird arching sound, it could be your engine is miss firing.

soooo, should i just ignore the eld code? And the noise is not a mis fire, the engine runs great and has an amazingly smooth idle, it sounds like something with the exhaust

Yea, that is what I did. The only thing to do is have a dyno technician or youself erase the ELD from the ECU. Until then, the CEL will stay on.

has it always thrown the eld code? to try to get rid of the code (even though the car doesn't have eld) check your battery connections. I had this code on one of my cars and it was because the small wire that comes off the positive cable and goes to the fuse box was barely hanging on. cleaned it up and made a better connection and the code went away.

the cel light doesnt stay on all the time, it comes up randomly. Ill try the battery thing though. I tryed taking the o2 sensor out earlier but of course its in the hardest place to get a wrench on.

The ELD code is NORMAL for 90-93 integra with engine swaps. Llike I said just turn off ELD check in Hondata, or any other tuning system. No checking of the wires or O2 will fix the ELD code, simply because 2nd gen tegs don't have the ELD module.

For 94+ integra's, ELD is caused by bad connections, bad alternator, or a faulty ELD module located in the underhood fusebox.
