ITR IM VS. GJ Edelbrock or Skunk 2
Comments....
Is there much of a difference? I have a 1st gen B16 and want to replace the IM. Which is the best bang for the buck?
Any advise appreciated.

i have been in cars with skunk2's and ITR manifolds, decent improvement over stock. i think if you can get the JG manifold for not much over the skunk2 then it would be worth it. your valvetrain better be able to spin really high to take advantage of the high end gains.
From what I understand the JG IM is supposed to be the best for boosted applications, NA I have no idea, if it is the best, but it cost a bit more than the other two you mentioned. I had the Skunk 2 Im on my B16A Rex for a bit, it was pretty nice..I'd say Skunk2
use the ITR intake manifold for the N/A applications. To fully exploit the power with intake monifold upgrades on a normally aspirated car, you'll need to invest in cam gears and an hour of dyno time.

How does the fuel and air mix in an IM??? Fuel aint injected until the last inch of the manifold...
I'd say skunk or ITR, whichever you can get cheaper.....Leave the JG for the racecars/turbos.

b16a4me , fuel is mixed from the velocity of the intake charge and the dispertion pattern of the injector, there are alot of many other contributing factors, but those are two of them to give you an idea. With a different intake manifold you are hoping to increase swirl for better atomization of the intake air/fuel mixture as well as hoping for a more direct path into the ports for "better" or "more" air flow, but this just scratches the surface.
I think that sand cast vs polished would make sweet bugger all difference to "swirl" or fuel atomization. On an old school carburettor manifold sand cast may assist fuel atomization and prevent fuel from "dropping" out of the airflow but with EFI I have my doubts
This is just my opinion and I am far from a "tech god"

due check out the FI form.... there was a huge group buy on the JG manifold and afew people who got them said that they dyno it and lost about 10hp throughout the entire powerband........ now some if them want their money back. I wounld get that manifold. Just stick with stock and extrude hone it.
