I want to change the launch control on my AT29C256 chip. When I tried to read or open the file from the chip on crome; it won't open it. Crome gives me a "could not load file" error. I have a STS27SF512 chip that crome reads with not problem. I copied the file to a STS chip using the flash & burn. But crome would not let me open the file. The car would run fine with both chips, it's just that I can not open the file on crome to change the launch control. Anyone have any other way to change the launch control? or How to get the file open with crome?
• Place chip in Chip reader
• Open flash and burn
• Save Buffer to file (name it and add .bin to the end as the file extension. Save it too your desktop)
• Open Crome
• Open file - File/Open/*****.bin (choose the file you saved on the desktop)
If it is a Crome file it will open.
• Open flash and burn
• Save Buffer to file (name it and add .bin to the end as the file extension. Save it too your desktop)
• Open Crome
• Open file - File/Open/*****.bin (choose the file you saved on the desktop)
If it is a Crome file it will open.

like i said in the email the bin you sent me is 1byte in size....the bin should be 256byte or 32kb.....for some reason your flash and burn is not reading the chip.
Try to hex editor convert it to 32k size.

i had to figure this out this morning, im using the SST chips, because they are larger in memory area then the honda ecu actually uses, you need to read the area that is actually written to when you save the bin off the chip, so if the chip area is from 000000>00FFFFF but the actually written code starts at 008000, thats where you need to start the reading from.
I know the SST chips im using i use 008000>00FFFF which is what xenocron uses.

Hi after doing some research, AT29C256 got software protection function against to inadvertent hardware , it only can disable by the person who program the chip, to pull out the bin file. if anyone know how to hack this it maybe u can read the AT29C256 chip
