Default tuning for power and fuel economy

can the engine be tuned for fuel economy by ecu only, without adjusting the timing and cam gears?

i bought a two timer from moates that allows me to have 2 bin files on same chip and switch them by ground trigger.

i havent got into tuning too much yet so i dotn know the lil details of it.

i don't know why you would need two different fuel and ignition maps to get good mpg and make good power....

your map sensor tells your ecu how much load is on the motor, thus lighter load (cruising) you can tune it to leaner afr mixture. you can put what ever you want in the ecu, I used to run my ls turbo at 16.5 to 1 afr under cruising but 10.5 to 1 under boost. I got 32-34mpg consistently with over 300whp.

if you don't have a wideband, don't attempt to tune it your self. take it somewhere and try to pick the tuners brain a little so maybe you can learn something while they are tuning it. also read up on pgmfi.org if your serious about learning anything.
