Immediate , Knock sensor broke! Different Honda?, Can i use a different Knock sensor
So Ia m putting my transmission back on after doing the clutch everything is well, so I thought. I see I broke my damn knock sensor.. can i use a different Honda one? Maybe even one from a Toyota? I refuse to pay like 150.00 for a new one.
Please if anyone can help me out that would be great! I am going to tail of the dragon soon and I just need to get this car back together and this is holding me up. Thank you so much.
Also is there a resistance test i can do? to check a new one.
I saw on a site that a '03 civic Si sensor would work too. Can anyone verify?

National database of salvage yards. I would search entire country as it only costs like $5 to ship.

I cross ref'd a lot of Honda sensors. We shall see, all Honda knock sensors are 30530 and the number after is the head casting, the numbers that follow are something else. I bought a Honda Odyssey 2002 Knock sensor 27.00 from Honda, I also had the order a '03 civic SI one, which is 41.00, I don't have to keep the Si one I just wanted it to come in and compare.
I have a good dealership (:

They break REALLY easy, don't feel bad, I've broken 2 different ones. Need to get another one sometime. Post your results here from what you find out.
Btw, unless you have an AEM, Hondata, or something to actually see the voltage output, you won't know if it's correct. Even though it doesn't throw a code, it could still be wrong and not working properly. Scaling/voltages are off.

I am just telling everyone what I am experiencing. I hope to get aftermarket computer someday, but until then we'll see how well this one works.

If you're looking at the same thread, then you should see the empirical evidence of how stupid this is. You won't have any idea if you're actually knocking or not, because it's tuned at a different frequency. It will also have an issue with retarding timing, because of a lack of frequency. That guy who's been running it for '2 years without issues' has no idea if there actually is an issue or not.
Hope you don't blow an engine trying to save $100 on your s2000.
