Default b18c spec r question!

Hi, I just joined this forum since I just bought an ek with b18c spec r swapped. I'm kinda new to hondas and I was wondering what kinda engine oil and filter would be the best for this. Thanks!

Um.. Everyone who's downing mobil1 obviously doesn't use the oil

OEM/Mobil1 is all i've ran in all my cars , motors i've built and motors i've tuned. I've used mobil1 for the last 8 years and to be honest, my motors look brand spanking new @ rebuild time, or upgrade time.

Mobil1 is really all we recommend at the shop for oil changing. Valvoline for break-in.
If you can afford amsoil, thats another good oil..

Ya dude, because we want oil filters that implode on themselves.. if you aren't educated on this subject, dont throw in 10 cents because your "Friends said so"

Fram filters have imploded so many times on motors its unreal....i'd use pureolator before that ****.

i wouldn't use fram. with a micron range of 35-40?! your nuts just about any filter out there is better then a fram. Op, just run a oem or mobile 1 filter and that should be just fine.

Go to bobistheoilguy.com. great info there on all the oils. I actually like castrol syntec a little better after the numbers from there. And its all non profit third party analysis.

I like non-detergent straight 30w myself. But that's just me.

I was always under the impression more zinc was actually better for this type of valvetrain and what not. I know in the motorcycle racing industry almost everyone swears by Rotella because of the extra zinc and the oil holding up extremely well considering its oil usually for diesel engines. I have seen what you mean the bronzed everything under the valve cover that makes it look old and no good lol. Mine looks like its out of the factory using Mobil 1 full synthetic and AMSOIL. Castrol Syntec has been good to me but its a BP product and I dont care to support BP anymore. I would like to hear more on the zinc debate.
