We are going to HIN this weekend for the car show and drag racing
I'm not to sure what he has for internals, other then pistons and rods in a b18b

he's tune at 16 psi runs all day on it.

Now here the part where he's a dumbass

He wants to run the turbo wide open for the drag race (take the vac line from the wg) and i told him it's retarded, so to prove it to him what are your guys opinion on this.

 

a waste gate has an xxlbs spring...when it sees xxlbs boost by way of the vac line it opens to keep boost at xx amount...if u eliminate vac/boost line then engine will keep making boost till you get a nice white cloud of smoke in the back...i say go for it and post after pics....everyone here loves engine carnage pics...

 

It's called the nog setting. It's a good excuse to do a rebuild.

typically if it was tuned for safety, there is a boost cut feature. Make sure its not programmed for a cut at X amount of boost, then go for it if he wants to blow it up...

 

I agree with everyone else. Tell him to do it, bring a video camera, and record him blowing it up and post it up here for all of us to laugh at.

 

I would just let him do it but he's a good , maybe stupid, friend.
and i'd hate to see all the money get put in his car go
