Default For those of you running E85

Ive been contemplating converting to E85 to run higher compression and be safe. For those of you that have made the switch what size injectors did you use and what pump? Did you have to upgrade any fuel lines or are the fuel lines in a dc2 good enough? For those of you running all motor setups using E85 what compression ratio are you running? What else do i need to know about E85, has anyone ran E85 using ITBS?

ID 725's are great for E85. We've ran compressions as high as 14.5:1 on e85 with no issues. You can do it on stock fuel lines but i'd reccomend a good fuel rail/regulator. A walbro 255 will do the job. As far as ITB's....it'd be no different from running a manifold. If anything it'd be all up to whoever is doing the tuning as to how well it will all work. E85 demands are different than normal gas, i'd reccomend going to someone with experience with the stuff.

Theres a little shop in Burr Ridge in my sig that you can check out. Oddly enough i have alot of experience working on that car thats in your sig. Chobs' old ITR...i did a good amount of work to it and tuned it once upon a time.

E85 is worth about 3-5% usually on n/a engines. Search my screen name here on h-t and you might find some back to back testing. Its essentially beneficial when doing 10-20 minute track sessions as it burns cooler. At the same time it burns more at a faster rate- resulting in less miles out of a tank.

haha ya it is im planning on redoing the bottom end and picking up a sleeved block and going from there so im trying to figure if its worth going e85 and picking out a parts list soon hopefully, definatly going ITBS over winter so might as well make the switch when i have to get bigger injectors. Which fuel rail would you consider using?

Sounds like you got some thorough planning to do. Plan your engine combo completely before you jump into manifolds/itbs. Are you going with itb's for power or for bling?

AEM's and GE rails have worked well for me. Pretty much anything that is made of high grade material and is anodized well. NOT BENEN.

Yes yes i have alot of planning to do still. I just found a block i might pick up sleeved and bored out to 85mm so that might come before the itbs and id do itbs for power purposes. The only thing im trying to piece together before i jump and buy this block is what size crank to go and then go from there definatly alot more planning to do haha.
