Default TSX manifold problem

Hey everybody I just installed a ported and polished 04 tsx manifold and hondata intake manifold gasket on my 05 accord 4 cyl sedan and I came across some problems. One is that my car doesn't idle correctly and also my car dies out. I checked all the hoses and reset the ecu and i still have the problem. Is the engine getting too much air? I have no check engine light either. Do I need to get my ECU chipped? I have headers, intake and 2 1/2 piping with exhaust. I just can't seem to find out what the problem is. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, could it be that your honda is a cable TB and the TSX is DBW type ?

I don't think the DBW intake has the notch cut out for idle speed valve (DBW TB adjusts the butterfly to control idle unlike cable version with idle control bypass type valve ) . If so a TB spacer for cable type system would probably fix it (or a few TB gaskets stacked .

"Drive By Wire " no cable throttle . AFAIK 2004 TSX is DBW, there no cable TB , so no idle speed controller valve like on older cable throttlebody's .

Oh ok. What should I do? I have the 04 tsx manifold on my 05 accord. Is there a solution to my problem?

Sure, but i can't advise w/o both manifolds in front of me . Look at old manifold were TB bolts up , see the notched cut out at bottom , thats for Idle valve . Did the TSX have this cut out ?.
Did you use new gasket with cut out too ?(you need one from your 05 honda (cable type).

Here a few things you can try , from easy to hard IMO if the TSX does not have notch cut out .

1) try 2 or 3 Honda 05 TB gaskets stacked .Since they have notch in them a few stacked will give some bypass ability .
2) use a TB spacer for cable TB, this will have notch already .
3) grind a notch out in the TSX so cable TB can work .

Do a search I am sure this has come up before in here or other Honda forums .

Edit: IF your TSX IM did have notch then disregard all above .

You were right bro, my stock tb has the notch and the tsx manifold is a circle without the notch. The manifold is from a 04 tsx and is completely round without the notch. If i get the tsx tb will it work ok on my car?

No, you can't use DBW TB as your car does not support that tech (would need new ECU , APP and harness ). You need to make a notch so air can get by . If stock 05 honda gasket is at least 1/16 thick , try 3 stacked , thats easiest way I can think of .

LPED you said in a earlier post that I can use a tb spacer. Which one do you recommend? Would I just have to buy a 05 accord tb spacer?

I can't recommend one as I am not that up on them all .If the TB of both 04 TSX DBW and 05 Honda TB fit the bolt pattern and throttle bore lines up with your manifold the same . Then a TB spacer for older cable system will work. maybe ask the retailer the same question as I have seen this asked on many a honda forum .
The other way would be grind small notch in the TSX manifold, if there is enough material at bottom . you would have to remove manifold of course or just get right TSX manifold with cutout .

Do a search here or at K20a.org might get answer too .

TB spacers are GARBAGE

they do nothing except give you a spot to tap a hole for nitrous or some sensor

The people who claim power never prove it. and by proving it, I mean an actual picture or video of a dyno, rather then a computer generated dyno which can be based on an equation, which isnt always accurate

Spacers for power work on carberated motors, or on throttlebody injected systems like the old honda civic d15b2 with 2 injectors to run 4 cylinders.

And before anyone syas you can get a thermal spacer to keep teh throttlebody cool, it doesnt make a difference.

a motor will run teh same whether the throttlebody is scorching hot or freezing cold. air passes through it too fast to change temp. the manifold temperature is more important!

I don't think anyone here is claiming TBS is a performance boost, it was suggested only for proper idle speed controller valve function .
