Need help! rims rubbingg!!
hi i have a 99 em1. recently i purchased a set of 15x7 +45 rims for my em1. the stock ones are 15x6 +45 . for some reason the rear rims rubs the upper control arm and i can not figure out why 1 inch would make this big of differnce.
how would i solve this problem? if i was to add spacers in it, how many mm or inches do i need? and would i need an extra long bolts ? thanks in advance

i wouldnt use spacers. but is there a possibility you can return these wheels. if you went to a 17 you should be able to clear that control arm completely.just my opinion
sounds like too much offset at a +45 from center for a 7" wide wheel on a 15" diamater. I'd have gone with a +40 or a +42, i believe for that car +42 is stock offset, you should be able to clear a 15 on a +40 or +42 offset. I know when I ran 17x7 on my 2000ek I ran +42 with 7" wide 17's they cleared just fine, no rub ever, fenders control arms etc with stock fender roll.
i have 17s on my ej1 coupe and there is no rubbing. and my car is repectivly low. the ride is good. the most ull have to do is role ur fenders and u should be good to go.
I am having a similar problem in a 95 civic EX I just bought, the guy told me the shocks were adjustable and the Passenger side front has about 1/4" clearance where as the Drivers side has an inch.
I took some pictures and I put a quarter on the flat part of the tire for reference. I couldn't get under the passenger side tire.
I am new to all the add on stuff, how easy is it to adjust most shocks? What is the normal procedure?

i checked the offsets on google. apparently it oem sir rims are also +45? is this correct? and my mistake, its only rubbing in the rear right now. hence not the control arm. it is rubbing near the shocks apparently. spacers are no good? even if its like 6 mm? Lets say if my oem sir rims are really +42, how many mm of spacer do i need to compensate that? thanks for the reply guys
ill post some pictures later when i get my car back. Just a question, to what extend of using a spacer is extended studs needed? would a 6mm / 1/4 inch spacer be ok ? or does that come it to lose to much gripping force of the lug nuts
just wondering if this is right. a frd of mine said , you are needed to be able to turn 5-6 times before the lug nut tightens to achieve maximum gripping force. i feel a little scared for your frd lol. might pop out one day on the highway or sth ......
car is actually stock in suspension. so stock height. weird thing is , the rear left wheel clears the inner arms ok but just not the right side... is it because theres an out of alignment in my car?
That sounds like bent parts my friend, if the left rear is fine and the right rear is not then you have bent parts, because only the toe is adjustable on stock honda suspensions for that year is the toe, unless you have adjustable uppers installed aftermarket.
Is anything rubbing in the front?

the front is also fine. i have no aftermarket parts at this moment. so it might be the toe? or i was hearing that it could also be the lower control arm?

as posted above. if you are only rubbing on one side then there is an issue with something being bent or possibly a trashed bushing. toe being out of spec would not cause rubbing.
check #3 (compensator arm), #9 (upper control arm), #7 (trailing arm), #4 (lower control arm)

also for people suggesting a larger diameter wheel...diameter doesnt really have anything to do with rubbing since the oversize of the wheel/tire stays the same (larger wheel uses a lower profile tire to keep the overall diameter the same). width, offset and ride height will be the major contributors to rubbing
What you say is true if it's the tire that's rubbing. It's not true if it's the wheel that's rubbing.
Your not the only one lol. Personally i would use extended studs for any size spacer over 3mm as some others in the suspension forums have said.
