My brother has a 99 civic si, he installed an eddlebrock performer x turbo kit about 6 months ago. Ever since he hashad a problem with the cel turning on. At first the shop said it was a bad secondary o2 sensor so he replaced that and still had the problem. Then he replaced all the hose clamps since the one eddlebrock gave him were cheap and possibly created a boost leak. It worked good for two days and now its back on. When the cel comes on it starts giving it to much fuel, any ideas of what this could be?

Post the specific CEL code(s).

 

I am not sure of the specific code but the code was specifically for a secondary o2 sensor.

 

When the code came up it was something along the lines of "low voltage secondary o2 sensor".

 

sounds like he needs to convert to OBD-1 and not use O2 sensors.. is this in cali where you need to pass emmisions?

 

The kit has a piggyback system. It is designed for an obd2 set-up. If he converted to obd1 that would NOT fix the problem of it running right.

 

so he got a turbo kit and its not tuned?
if you get it tuned, they can turn off the o2 sensor

 

Post the OBDII code because a secondary O2 sensor problem should have no effect on engine performance or air-fuel ratio. The sole function of the secondary O2 sensor is to monitor whether the catalytic converter is bad.

 

sounds like he needs to get some kind of proper engine management....depending on what kind of piggy back he has, he cant adjust the air fuel ratio's by rpm

 

The piggy-back came pre-tuned with the kit. What if he deleted the piggy-back system that came with the kit and got a proper engine managment system and tuned it that way?
