Looks like i am going to have to pull the head and have the spark plug threads re-tapped

What sucks is that my backup car is currently torn apart too. The head is off my wagon for:
headgasket
water pump
timing belt
clutch
y8/a6 minime
Obd1 conversion

2 cars out of commission wtf! Apparently I need a back-up back-up car

take off the head. i seen one before on cylinder 2. the dude took it to honda and all honda did was retread the hole to make it bigger and put a bigger spark plug in. LOL fail. but i saw the damage on the block and head and it was not pretty. the walls were scored to ****. they were soooo deep, it was crazy, you couldnt even hone it! if i was you, id do a compression test to make sure nothing is really bad inside. id watch it. dont want to end up like the guy i mentioned. good luck and update us!

Right way is to take the head off....

You can retap the hole, try to clean it up..if not you will have to heli-coil it.

Basically you drill out the head, and put new threads back in.

If done right, just as strong. There are other types of heli-coil out there, just can't recall the brand name.

^^^ that is the best/right way to go. taking off the head is suppose to be a 8 hour job i heard, but i did it in 4 hours and i took my time while painting my intake wrinkle black

Ok update on this. The head has been taken off and what did i find? 4 bent intake valves, 4 bent exhaust valves and all the exhaust valve guides are worn out too. Apparently the previous owner has had the head off before and maybe did some botched tinkering....

Does anybody know a dealer that keeps s2000 parts in stock, I ordered valves, valve springs and retainers and payed fro overnight shipping just to find out they are out of stock and will take over a week!!!
