'99 EX manual tranny. 4 cyl. hesitation when A/C is on??
I get a hesitation out of the engine '99 Accord Ex sedan 4cyl with my 5-speed manual transmission when the A/C is on. Looked at the front motor mount, the rubber bushing was cracked. So I got a Anchor brand mount for $25 from Advanced autoparts. Sound like a fix, or what crew?
I'm betting that the mount isn't the issue, still needs to be replaced. Start with that.
Is there a certain RPM range for the hesitation? (tune up needed?). AND this only happens with the AC is on, under load.

Seems to happen only when compressor is engaging AND I am in first or second gear and accelerating. Does not happen when at idle and the compressor engages. Or at cruise in higher gears? Only lasts a split second.
Thats normal, because its putting load on the motor to turn the compressor when the compressor clutch engages, my 96 auto does this as well
Then why has it not occured atleast noticbly so, for the last 40,000 miles?? Is Anchor brand a good brand of motor mount??

If the motor mount (rear or front) is bad the "shock" from the engagement will probably be more noticeable and felt throughout the car. I need to check my front and rear mount soon because I have a clunk when shifting from park to drive and then the shift from 1st to 2nd, I believe it is the rear L bracket hitting the rear subframe.
Ok, thanks PartsHero so the mountcould have something to do with the engagement being more noticable. Also I would rather replace one $25 mounts then what looks like more expensive mount on the side of the engine and tranny!
