i personally say go with LS turbo. Pretty cheap to find, cheap plentiful parts and it drops right in.

How advanced is swapping in a h series into my hx? What exactly would I need, I know a kid who has a h series for sale just the motor though, is there a lot of fabbing I need to do to get it in and running?

here's my opinion:
k20a2/k24bottom end or k20r only, the rest are junk
h2b if you want h-series and dont wanna run the super long geared trannies
ls...good for boost, but scream for a vtec head and shorter gears

the simplest option would be a b-series swap as far as ease of swap/repairs in your driveway. i personally would try and find a b16 or gsr if you go b-series.

that sounds like a plan. LS motors paired with b16 tranny is not bad at all. Sure you'll be yearning for some VTEC mmmmMMMMBBBBWWAAAAAHHH! but for daily driveability, its great. Plus you don't have to get premium gas like VTEC motors 'require' you to do

Well the K out of an SI is not the "good" K. And an H series swap is not really for a beginner, have you thought of a d turbo? They are cheaper to find, cheaper to build, cheaper transmissions, tad bit lighter, and can make great power. I'm sure there is more to it, by that's what I recommend.

gsr deff. more expensive than an h22 swap...unless its a high mileage oil burning gsr.

LS is a cheap abundant motor so parts are cheap. only downfall is that its not the strongest motor out there, unless you fully build it (re-sleeved,pistons,rods,etc.) your gonna run into problems frequently from my experiences. your looking at about 250 or so to be safe... LS's under boost spin bearings all day...but its good there cheap...I bout a fresh 78k b18b for $300 a year or so ago...

if your gonna boost, stick with b-series. If your gonna go NA, stick with the h22, stock for stock price wise, nothing beats it

the you myfriend just had a bad experiance, because ive had 2 ls's and i love'em their strong motors even runing them low on oil and their not gonna pop just cruising. (now to alex) as my rant procides me i say ls and in the future going ls/v stock block and stock vtec head your only gonna make around 160-170hp to the most, you gotta build them, not just the block but you gotta build that head, but of course this could come down the road while your still enjoying your stock ls

well i have a hx motor so if i build it im gonna scrap the tranny and head and swao in a y8 and an ex tranny i think. if i go b series it will be a stock ls motor with a built head and low boost because i heard tuned well they handle 250-275 easily and thats what i want, and if i go k series its just gonna be because he has it for 1000 which is hella cheap, idk how hard they are to swap though

and thanks for all of the replies fellas

LOL k-series for a grand...but how much are the custom axles, mounts, shift linkage, etc gonna run you? i know k-pro by itself is close to another grand. thats the main reason people are trying to get rid of them for "cheap" to fanboi's.

If you're planning on going boost later, what kind of power goals are you trying to achieve?
