Can anyone recommend a shop to do a motor swap for less than $1000? Just need a replacement d16y8 98+ 5-speed. i have a transmission already and clutch/flywheel/pressure plate. Preferably low miles

I would just buy a used motor for less than $1000 with a warranty.

search lab junkies on google.

pretty sure you will find your answer there re: that craiglist ad.

call steve @ hmo, get an engine from him and ask him who he suggests for installation. that's what i would do if i needed an engine plus installation for some reason. it will cost more but you are dealing with fully reputable people.

I would offer you my help, however I am very busy at work right now, but I think that after the 27th of this month I will have a few weekends free...If you bring me everthing needed for the swap, I can swap it in for $500. LMK
8qts of 5w 30 oil
2 oil filters
axles
good engine mounts
proper ecu
proper engine harness
and of course long block.
At additional cost I can do the flywheel and clutch, timing belt/water pump and tentioner. AC, PS, Alternator belts..etc.

Nastie Garage Pomona son! If you need a y8 swap talk-to-me I'm willing to part ways. We can arrange something. Still in the car so you can test drive. It needs front and rear main seals, which can be replaced when the motor is pulled with ease. You will also get mounts (3 maybe all 5 :p ) p/s, etc etc we can talk details if you want just pm me or something.

Yeah man i got a dud of a motor. It may end up being very and easily fixable i think, could just be the main bearrings i dont feel like dealing with it myself anymore ya know, It's my DD so I need it running to get to school and work i cant be hitching rides everyday and making payments on a non-running car.

Thank you guys for all the input and help i'll pm you all. I appreciate the help. I'd like to continue to explore my options so if anyone know's of a place in the Pasadena, San Gabriel, Alhambra, Rosemead, Eagle Rock, Glendale, Burbank area that would be great I get a few free miles on a AAA tow.

Also for these shops do i just need to have my motor sent to them and then bring in my car and what not? It's a first time for me.
