Default b16a cutting out in vtec

i have a jdm b16a with a p30 swapped in a 95 Si for about 2 years now. ive never had one problem with my engine until recently. i also cleaned my engine bay a few months ago so im wondering if that could have led to my engine problems. i only covered up the alternator so it couldnt get wet. however, i didnt blast anything with a power washer, i just lightly sprayed the water over everything with my water hose and a spray nozzle turned all the way down. im not sure if these 2 occurences have anything to do with each other, i just thought i would put this information out there just in case

my car is running fine under vtec. no stalling, no bogging, it runs perfect under 5xxx rpm's. once i get into vtec, it is cutting out and runs like crap. it will not make a smooth pull all the way to 8k rpm's without cutting out in vtec

today i decided to clean the iacv, new oem dist. cap and rotor, new oem fuel filter, new oem ngk spark plugs. i have some ngk plug wires that still look to be in good condition. after all this, it's still running the exact same.

Any CEL codes? You might want to test the coil and igniter unit.

check the gasket for the vetec pressure switch the gasket has a wire mash screen that clogs up
