k24 swap into LX civic.
Well if you dont have anyparts there are two ways to go about this. If you have the Funds I would just buy a block and head and take it to shop and let them do everything. Portwork, pistons ect ect. If your swapping might as well build. If you dont have funds. Buy the peices of the motor and then buy the internal parts later. You can also decide if you wanna do a turbo build or all motor build. Either way I suggest doing a 2.6 and fully built. Makes a **** ton of tq.
On youtube there was a vid of a guy who did it but I havnt seen a build thread on one. Your gonna need a new tranny as well so it could be pricey for you.

ummm y would you put a K24 into a LX Civic... thats a much heavier engine... i mean will it even fit? sounds like a lot of work... with lil results... your better off goin to junk yards ad findin a K20.. what year is this civic???
Your gonna have to do more than just the motor. You are gonna have to do suspension work, drivetrain work and a **** load of other things too. If you have that part figured out and the funds, it would be pretty crazy to see this. GL with your build dude.
Has anyone on this site done this swap? I did a little searching but I couldn't seem to find much and I thought this would be faster. I'm planning on swapping a k24 into my 08 FA1. I'm in the planning and parts gathering stage and I thought it would be easier to talk to someone who might have done this already.
k20's stay in junkyards for minutes before they are snatched up anything useable and honda is gone in an instant. to the person who said the motor is heavier not really i have done shortblocks or longblocks on every k motor honda has, si, crv, accord, and of course some of those lovely cracked blocks the R series that the lx has stock not much heavier at all esspecially since wow well check this the manual trans is much lighter than the heavy **** auto trans so it kind of balances out :O wow cray how that **** works, you could honestly use most stock Si parts mounts and such harness kpro blah blah blah shouldn't be too much of a challange actually since its the same car as the Si when it comes down to it.
Extended down time? Car rental? If you are spending the cheese for all that surely the cost to rent an econo box for a week wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
Also, if you are building the engine internally surely you plan on tuning it right? I mean what fool completes a swap with a built engine, get in starts it up and drives it around before it's tuned? It should be towed to a tuner and started up on a dyno with a wideband lambda, tuned and broke in.
The 2.4 is slightly taller and will fit, you'll need a CRV mount to pull off the swap. From which side I can't recall.

Since you have a lx im guessing 2door. You should basically buy the pedal and everything that goes to a 2dr si. Hondata flashpro works great on k24s and its cheaper. I would suggest you buying either a full k20 motor with tranny ecu everything. Gonna be hard to find but will make life easier in the end. Then You can buy a 2.4 block and put that in at a later time, or just build the motor while its outta the car.
You would have to run the ECU of the Si, and fairly certain the wire harness too. I was saying to stick with the CANBUS ECU of the K20Z3 because if you went with a K20A2 based ECU and Kpro you would have to sacrifice AC, cruise and dash function unless you wanted to run dual ecu set up. Keeping the K20Z3 architecture despite the DBW drawback will be the most cost effective straight forward set up.
I would just do a 2007+ K20A swap ordered from Steve at HMotorsonline.com with all the bolt on goodies and be done with it. I wouldn't tear down a block.

If your doing a transplant of this magnitude and the spare motor is going to be out of the car, why not just tear it down and build it up? Makes sense to me. I mean the OP could just trade in his lx and get a si for the price hes gonna pay for everything anyway.
Greg, tearing into a block poses potential reliability issues.
Forged pistons have their own issues, the ONLY reason I would tear into a short block is if I was looking to make more power than I could with bolt ons, or to install light weight connecting rods. The 2007 JDM K20A has 11.7 compression ratio and makes 225PS or 222BHP. With cams and all the bolt on goodies one can realize 260-280WHP easily. Any more than this in a FWD car you run into axles issues, traction issue, torque steer.
