Im frustrated whats wrong with my ITR.
Im trying to find out what is wrong with my car. when the problem occured i had it at the dragstrip and i was going threw several runs shifting after redline just before fuel cutoff. All of a sudden i blew an ignition fuse and after i replaced it i noticed that my car sounds a lot different then it did before but only in vtec, it sounds way louder and has just a crisper sound to it. The main thing is, its slower in vtec. Right up until 5 700 rpm it feels the same as it always did. But in vtec it feels a lot less powerless but screams louder. I also HAD a bit of a missfireing problem. I took it to acura and they told me that someone had been playing with the ignition timing and they set it back to 16. NOBODY HAS TOUCHED my ignition timing, i know that for a fact. And my car is still has the problem of being louder and no power in vtec, all that adjusting the ignition timing did was get rid of my small missfire problem. The main problem was not fixed. thanks for any help.

Something like that happened to me one time. Im not sure if its the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they replace my ecu fuse and my O2 sensor. dontk now might help.

Sounds like they are taking advantage of you. Call Honda's heado ffice in Canada and explain the situation to them. Tell them that no one has been screwing around with the ignition timing.

Have you checked your spark plug wires? How does it idle? The blowing of the ignition fuse tells me you might have a short somewhere. It could be in the ignitor which would be bad. But it could be plug wires. I've seen that happen before. A small slit in the wire or boot shielding will let the spark go into the block instead of the plug. That takes away power and usually messes up idle too, but not all the time. New plug wires are also cheap.
coil? igniter module? I sthink I would check the resistance of the primary and secondary coil. This would probably be the most likely reason the fuse would have blown.
Check the resistance in the coil might let you know. But a problem with the plug wires like I mentioned won't show up on a resistance check. There's isn't enough current to show the problem. You'd have to do a thorough visual inspection.
Chris it's Russ. Hey man told you your timing was off.
Glad to hear you got rid of your misfire. When I rode in your R it seemed to
make good power to me but seat the pants its hard to tell.
My suggestion is take it to a dyno and have them tune it.
Its very possible after all of your problems that you have had engine wise
that your car needs to be dyno tuned.
Good luck man keep me posted.
Btw i live in florida now!
