vtec swap with no vtec
Ok, so I swapped an obd1 d15b vtec with a p28 ECU into an obd1 del Sol S with a P06 ECU. The motor ran with vtec before we did the swap and now Vtec won't kick in. I followed all the wires for the Vtec solenoid and pressure switch and they seem to be going to the correct area. I thought I'd have to wire up the wires since the previous motor did not have vtec in it (S model) but the wires from the engine harness to the ECU are all there and set up for vtec.... but it's still not kicking in....
I double checked my ECU pinout and the orange/white wire is going into the A4 pin and the orange/blue wire is going into the D6 connector and the black ground wire is going to the ground point on the water outlet housing... HELP!!

The best way to go about it is to hook a 12V activated light on the VTEC solenoid and somewhere you can see it and see if it lights up at the designated RPM's, if it does VTEC is working.
This is a stupid question but is there enough oil in your motor? Double check that.
Heres what you should do. Unplug the vtec solenoid wire plug. Start the car and drive it around. See if the check engine light goes on for code 21 or 22. If it doesn't then theres your problem. Either your ecu doesnt look for a vtec sensor meaning its a non vtec ecu or theres something else wrong with your wiring..

sorry for taking so long to reply. I am using a p28 ECU.
I put in a 98 civic dx (non vtec) Oil pressure sending unit in the motor for the swap that I had laying around. I went to advance a few days ago and got a 94 del Sol Si Vtec OPSU and we suddenly HAVE vtec...
The part numbers are all the same and i didn't think it would make a difference but somehow it does. I raced her the other night (legally of course..
) with my z6 and she freakin crept in front o me...... >_< lol
So how would it make a difference? Could the old one just have been bad?

are u sure vtec is not kicking in.. if u say u can take it all the way with no problems, than vtec should be working.. maybe u just dont hear it.. try unbolting ur headers n do a quick run.. u should be able to hear the crossover
