OT: how do you guys clean ur turbo engine bay?
I use this stuff called CD-2 and its sold in all the autoparts store. Do not use it on a hot/warm motor. Spray it on and let it sit there for a while, then wipe.
yeah let the engine cool, the spray simple green ON EVERYTHING!!! just let is sit for a min or 2 that hose of with garden hose. Looks like a new car everytime

Simple green, brake parts cleaner, and hot water used inside one of those sprayers your dad uses to spray for bugs... they are 10 bucks at walmart and work great. make sure to watch out for any electronics and especially boost control sensors/selenoids.
i cleaned my engine bay with simple green when my car was N/A... i just want to make sure if i have to do anything different when it's turboed...
<--Uses Mean Grean cleaner
The turbo shouldn't need to be covered up...It has a pipe going in the inlet, and a pipe going out; along w/ everything else capped off. It gets wet some neways while driving in rainy weather.

back on topic: i'm considering paying this local company $45 to clean my engine before the turbo install. think it's worth it? FYI i have no under-engine plastic tray and both my CV boots are ripped! haha i'll be getting my money's worth! engine has never been cleaned in 7 years!!
again back to my original question..what should i cover up in the bay?? thanks alot for all the replies guys.
NOTHING, MUHAHAHAHAHAAHAH, DEATH TO ELECTRONICS...
Just avoid getting water on:
Distributor (It's got a cap, but still)
Main wiring harness going in to the fuse box on the passenger hand side.
Anything that looks like a wire
Maybe injector tops
