I'm not sure what component would be making this noise, Spring? Strut? Balljoint? Arm bushings?

It only makes the noise going up and down, turning left and right doesn't cause it unless its also going up and down at the same time. (Does that rule out balljoint?)

I have torn compliance bushings in both my control arms, only my driver side makes this noise though. If I hold the arm and push the car up and down I can feel the arm vibrating with the noise. Lubing the bushings didn't help at all, and it really sounds like it's loudest right by the balljoint.

Any ideas?

 

sounds like the strut. does it seem to hit bumps hard?

 

Not really, if you push down on the car it stops jumping after one bounce

 

more than likely its your control arm bushing

 

well.. if you want my 2 cents it might be one of those bolts are too tight and maybe a little rusty spray some wd40 on the bolts and see if it squeeks than

 

WD-40 won't do much. If it is actually a bolt, which I don't think it likely, you'd need to use a penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench.

I'm voting for dry / worn out bushing.

 

Sounds like control arm bushings. Check for dryness, cracking, movement of the bushings. Check your tie-rod ends, ball-joints,and sway links as well. If you have to replace tie-rod ends or ball joints get the greasable ones, they will last longer as long if you lube 'em regularly. Honda, Autozone, and Oreillys will tell you the control arm bushings are non-serviceable but, you can order 'em and press them yourself if you wanna save money.

You can't use the ball-joints with zerk fittings, they get in the way.
