When you rebuild a motor do you have to use stop leak to stop the water pump leaking
I need to know this please and stop deleting all my threads, my water pump is leaking and wondering if using stop leak is a good idea to stop it from leaking because my freind told me when he rebuilt his ls/vtec low compression build he had the same problem with the water pump and his leaked also and he used stop leak and it stoped leaking even though it was a fresh rebuild with no miles too.
DUDE YOUR THREAD WASN'T EVEN ON THE SECOND PAGE!!!!!!!!! There was no reason to bump it.
To answer your question we are gonna need a little more info.
How many miles are on the pump? When was the last time you did the water pump/ timing belt service? What kind of shape is the timing belt in? Is it leaking from the pulley or the gasket?

Stop leak is terrible for your motor and should not be used. When your motor was rebuilt was the water pump replaced with a new one? If so it could be defective, especially if its aftermarket from like auto zone or something like that. Also theres a chance it was installed incorrectly, your supposed to use a small amount of sealant around the pump mating surface when you bolt it on. Also the bolts must be torqued to the right rating. Another thing is the o rings on the tube that connect the pump to the thermostat housing should be replaced whenever you replace a waterpump. When installing these o rings they must be lightly lubed to ensure they go in and seat properly, because if not they tear or fold against itself and dont seal. Hope this helps

Probably that part i bolded. I just went through the same ****, took me 3 trys of taking the IM off and redoing it before I realized that was all i had to do to stop it.
If its coming from where the pipe meets the block on the timing belt side, thats definitely it, and its a bitch lol
compression has nothing to do with your water pump leaking.
If your rebuilding the motor...change the water pump...spend the$75 bucks and save the piece of mind. It will come with a new seal,...just put a light layer of honda bond on it and u will be golden.

just want to make sure you saw it and understand. stop leak is for EMERGENCIES ONLY. think about it, how does it know where the leak is? it doesnt, which means that its going to stop "leaks" anywhere it can in the cooling system. so any small opening, or corner, or crevice, or hole, or passage has the chance of getting clogged. no good, stay away from it.
anyone who uses stop leak as a first fix, doesnt know anything about cars and shouldnt be trying to fix anything.

so I need to get new rings for where the coolant metal hose connects to the water pump and don't use stop leak.

did you use RTV? or any type of sealer. your question is so vauge. there is a rubber gasket on the pump itself obvioulsy and the rubber ring on your water pipe. if you have both of those on and used RTV it should not leak
I did also I was wondering why my timing belt won't stay tensioned does anybody know why do I need a new tensioner and also I have a spare one from my other gsr block should I just use that one?
