Default need help about sohc vtec turbo (not my area)

All this time i have been all about the b18b motor but i finally relized i don't wanna put alot of money into a civic, me and my girl are planning on getting a 350z in the near future. I have a 98 cx hatch and im looking for a 99+ low mileage sohc vtec motor instead of a b18b, b4 i busted on people for even thinking about modding a sohc and i knew nothing about them but now i just want a fun quick car without spending a lot. Now.. first off where can i find one of these motors and how much do they run for complete swap? is there any problems that im gonna run into doing a swap? I and def. going turbo but don't know whats the best for sohc..i know greddy don't make much power but is t3/t4 turbo too big? whats the best size and trim for that motor? i plan to get turbopanda's piston/rod set up and mild fuel managment and boost @ 1.3 bar (this is going into a hatch so what do you think my times would be?) Make fun of me all you want but im used to having motors with alittle bit of hp and tq. i miss my ls!!!!

you said you dont wanna spend a lot of money but a B18B is probably gonna be cheaper than a well put together turbo kit (unless you get awesome deals on stuff) and if you're also doing a swap to sohc vtec id say the B18B will almost definately be cheaper

the sohc vtec turbo will probably be faster than a straight B18B but you also have to consider in things like tuning into your cost. boosting 1.3 bar would be foolish imo without standalone... so there's another $1000 and on top of that you always run a greater risk of breaking things on a turbo'd engine

id say either slap a greddy turbo on your stock engine or do the B18B

Yea what the guy above me said ^_^ . 1.3 bar is a lot for a motor with stock internals, etc. .43 bar would be a more on the realistic side.

Complete D16Z6 swap = ~$2-500

Used GReddy kit w/piping and BOV + small IC + DSM injectors + AFC = ~$1500

Not bad for about $2k. I'd boost to no more than .7bar (10psi), that'll be good enough for 160-190whp depending on how well the motor is tuned and how good an exahust you use.

its not gonna have stock internals, its gonna have supra pistons and b16 rods..

and the turbo shouldn't be alot, im gonna piece it together, find most parts barly used or on a group buy

1.3 bar is alot (22lbs or so). Your gonna have to strenghten the block somehow. And the greddy t3/t4 is to small.

It would be cheaper to do a 1.8 install. But your not gonna be near as fast as a 1.3 bar sohc(will probably blow up real fast if not tuned perfectly).
