It stormed pretty damn well yesterday and through the night. I've known my hatch leaked but just wasn't sure where, now there may as well be no window on the back. I've done some tests and it seems like it is leaking from the roof where that black strip is on the roof. But I'm not sure, can anyone give some insight??

 

Have you sat inside while someone wets the area with a hose?

 

yeah that's what I did today and I think it's the passenger rear croner but not sure what exactly though.. Maybe something to do with the way the roof was connected to the rest fo the vehicle.

 

I have a friend who had the same problem in his EK, it ended up that the seals for the taillight were dryrotted out.

 

I have the same problem now in my Ej8. I've never seen it leak, but the headliner is blotched and after it rains, the inside smells like a wet dog. I think it's from my rear passenger roof weatherstripping also, both corners are raised up. I might have a mold issue. Nothing Stanley can't fix though.

 

I put some clear sealant where I think the problem is.. We'll see in ten minutes if it worked.

 

I tried to super glue it down. Ended badly.

 

lol I'm definitely not going to resort super glue quite yet. Did you try double sided tape? lol I always use zip ties.

 

Had a similar problem, but a little lower down around the rear window - bad seal from the factory. Fixed it with some Automotive GOOP, but not before it ruined my tail light and rusted out from the inside the body piece right above the tail light due to the problem going undiagnosed for 10+ years. I have yet to tend to the rust.

 

yeah I've already tried the sealant and I actually think it helped a bit.. but alas, a small leak remains :\

 

take the strips off and make sure there's no holes before sealing it down, if i read correctly

 

I did that. It looked like the last hold down could possibly have been leaking so gooped that up lol.
