Default b20 block: worth buying?

debating if i should buy this b20 short block and rebuilding it, but don't know if its worth it. The guy had it boosted and one of the pistons melted and scuffed up one of the cylinder walls. So from you perspective is it worth buying and rebuilding.......(links of Pics of block below)

Do you wanna make power??

Buy the block, send it off and have it cleaned and hottanked, it'll look brand new compared to that pic..

no not worth it. you should just find one in good condition already and build upon it instead of trying to fix that one.

What?

That block is a stock 84mm, bore it out to 84.5mm and be done, that would get rid of w/e the walls have on it, and a hottank and bore should cost less then 250.00..really?

I'd jump on this just to build another b20vtec setup if i knew where this block was.

The only potential problem is that the cylinder may be damaged deeper than a .5 over bore could correct. Hard to tell in the pictures but I damaged a piston/bore in my old b16a2 with nitrous and I couldn't bore it out enough to fix it, so I scraped it.

you could have 30:1 compression, that's not the problem. It's part throttle low rpm ignition timing (AKA- having a GOOD tune) that's responsible for most B20 motors, living or dieing on stock sleeves.

from the picture it looks like it got scuffed up but pictures can be decieving lol. i figure it would save me money since i plan on rebuilding a b20. just worried about the walls maybe in a much worse case than they look.

if the price is right and sleeves can b saved by going no more than 85mm then jump on it.
