Icon2 Broken belt, bent valves replaced, uses more gas than before

hi,
i just had my civic VTis 02 timing belt broken 3 weeks ago.10 out of 16 valves were bent(8 intake & 2 exhaust).My mechanic replaced the belt and valves but the engine sound is no longer the same and the engine is consuming more fuel.But at idle position it sounds good.I now need to do the compression test.
Do anyone here know what is the leak down test and what does TDC means?
OK,I did the compression test and every cylinder showed 14 bar which means that the new valves and belt have been well placed and adjusted.
I still need to find out why the engine is consuming more fuel.

TDC = Top Dead Center.

How much worse is the fuel consumption?

What do you mean when you say "the engine sound is no longer the same" ? ?
What are you hearing that sounds out of the ordinary?
Is your MIL (malfunction indicator light) on?

You might need to check your valve clearances.

Intake: .18 - .22mm (.007 - .009 in.)
Exhaust: .23 - .27mm (.009 - .011 in.)
