Plz Help Lowering springs & LCA on 91 4DR DX
I bought some non-adjustable springs from eBay to lower my 1991 Civic 4DR. They claimed to be for all 2&4 DR models. I installed them and the rear sits lower than the front. I'm guessing from the weight difference? Anyways that’s not where I’m going with this. My question is - Has anyone tryed to flip the rear LCA's over to gain a little more ride height? (See Pic) IF not do you think this would work? Thanks for any input you folks might have.
i seen alot of people with 4 doors that have done that i planing on doing the same 2 my hatch 2 c the difference do 2 my wheels rubbing with my wheel wel
Nice MS paint work, for once its understandible :]. I don't see why it wouldnt work unless they are specifically hardened in one position

Maybe... But there is definitely a difference between the wire sizes. I put the thicker wired ones up front. Plus I could not compress the fronts by hand prior to the install. So, the thinner wired ons that felt soft went out back. Sounds right?

That sounds right. Are you sure they are for that car. I friend of mine put some accord springs on a civic ( or something like that) and he said the rear end sagged a lot. I'd hate to think you got ripped off, that would suck.
Yeah - me too. Like I originally posted... They claimed to be for all 2&4 DR models. But thats the eBay gamble. Now I'm just looking for a cheap fix.
Well if what you propose will work, go for it. I have never done anything like that so I can't say either way. Just don't go as cheap as cutting or heating the springs, that usually has some very ugly outcomes. Best of luck.
Isn't that expected? The shock stroke is already shortened because of the attached spring. I don’t understand the disadvantage you're trying to describe. What am I missing?
So, I did it anyways... Here is how it turned out.
The first pic is of the driver side LCA as viewed from the rear and under that shows it viewed from the top. Note that the "S" points to the front of the car. (I'll explain later)
The next pic shows a 0.7" drop across the plain. Once The LCA's are flipped, total lift will be 1.4". To keep the proper orientation of the "S" bend the right and left LCA's were swapped. (The right was flipped and installed on the left, then vice-versa)
The following pics are before, after and on the ground. The white foam is there so the LCA don't get lost in the background.
Success!! This put my car at the ride height I want. The only drawback I noticed - Negative camber. Next purchase will have to be a camber kit.

instead of spending money on a camber kit just do the rear washer trick...!!!

This is my current situation. (bottom of the tires are closer than the tops)
So I followed the link. By the looks of it - the washer trick will push the top of the spindle out thus canting the bottom in. Is that really how it works?
I need just the opposite. Anyone have a poor-man's trick for that?
