98 honda civic 4dr ex. D16y8 engine /trans is gettin tired at around 187,000. having some blow by and some motor/wheel hoping??? also having surge problem with my electric???any suggestions ive seen these posts before but want direct response too many ideas from so many ppl t take in... im not sure if i can mini swap and rebuild my y8 or boost it...but am not sure if itll be worth it. ppl tell me a LS b18b engine will bolt up and be better to build for torque curve and have more bang for the buck. the old y8 isnt bad but needs more pep for my pizza slinging side gig. throw your ideas at me and lets make something happen!! open for anything MINIMAL BUDGET of course but what would you do????????? thanks from your fellow muzzy! i got a quad (02 honda 400ex)to trade or sell as well, for my y8 dreams to come true ask about it if your interested bustn86@live.com

 

Man.......back in the day when I had a d16 i swapped for a b16 then to a gsr. All were fun but the money I spent I wish I would have stayed d16y8. I say get another D

 

to have a remotely peppy car you're going to want to boost the d, or swap to an ls. either way is not going to be particularly cheap. might want to keep saving up

 

like i said i got couple grand wrapped up in my quad right now that im trying to sell for the money. once i sell ill have some dough to play around with. ne ways i like vtec motors but an ls sounds prime to play with, what will i need to swap it.? or where should i get a motor from i would like some sort of warranty so im thinkin from a remanufacturer or something...??? or who builds good aftermarket engines n **** like that. like i said throw me any and all information im like a sponge and im fairly mechanically inclined. im also lookin through alot of these forums for my own speculations. thanks a bunch

 

d16 + turbo = a lot of potential.

on the other hand a b18 is hard to resist but if you do I would use a b16 tranny with it to get those shorter gear ratios.
