hi i have a 97 civic coupe it seems to be heating up when im sitting in traffic i commute and sometimes there traffic so it goes from quater heat to about half way after about 20 mins sitting at idle so i was wondering what your assumption maybe or any inside knowledge would be nice. thanks it has a CEL code 41 which is 02 sensor if it matters

 

Sounds like cooling fan isn't coming on to me. most likely it's the fan switch by the thermostat housing.

 

can i check that by turning it on and just watching the fan??

 

Yeah, I would say let it sit running in your driveway after you've driven it so you don't have to wait as long for it to warm up. If the fan doesn't come on you can take the plug off the switch by thermostat housing and jump a wire in the plug to see if the fan comes on then.
