Default shifting problems in auto 95 civic

i have a 95 civicex coupe and its automatic (ya i know it sux its just my beater for now) and im having some problems goin through the gears. in first gear if im on it a little to hard and after its warmed up it feels like its slipping and it hardly goes anywhere until i let off the gas then it will shift. itll also do it if im on the highway and i gun it and it downshifts it just feels like it slips. i checked the fluid and it is where its supposed to be and i checked it the right way with the car running and after it has been warmed up. i would just like to know if anybody else has had this problem and if you think it is internal or just a bad solonoid, i need this thing to run for a while until i can get the time and money to swap a manual in it. o ya and theres only 134k on the motor and tranny. thanks

mine did this very same thing for about 3 months then it was toast. once it starts slipping its hard to make it stop. i swapped to a manual and got everything for 600 bux and did it myself so it was a cheap easy transformation and lovin it now

OBD1 civics are kinda neat in that you can convert your automatic ECU to manual in about 5 minutes with a soldering iron, so as long as you do that no you don't have to get a manual ECU. You can easily do an auto to manual swap for $600, hell you can do it for half that price, the whole key is to find someone selling a complete car for parts, something thats either been written off or rusted out, blown engine etc that can be had dirt cheap, like sub $600. You take what you need and part out the rest, if you do it right you can make money.

the biggest PITA of the swap is putting the pedals in is what i found when i did mine. i posted an ad in a local car forum and a guy had a shot that dealt alot with imports and just did a swap in a civic and didint need the parts anymore and sold them to me for 600

alright cool sounds good. i didnt really want to have to do the swap for a little while but it would be better if i did. and when it comes to the ecu and a soldering iron i dont know wut im doing with that so i might have to get a manual ecu lol. im sure i can find some rusted out civics in ohio easily. o and just out of curiousity, will a manual tranny from a 98 bolt up fine with my 95? or actually would i have to change out different sensor cuz of one being obd2 and the other obd1?

You can run any '92 - '00 Civic transmission except for the '99 - '00 Civic Si and '94 - '97 Del Sol VTEC. Ideally find one from an EX coupe or sedan, or a '92 - '95 Si hatchback. EX/Si transmissions are geared lower and closer together for better acceleration. Just make sure you get the VSS if its a '96 - '00 they're different than '92 - '95 transmissions, but work the same and the plug is the same.
