hey everyone im new to motor building and i want to do a mild build to my b18b before i do my ls vtec... i think its pointless to put a vtec head on a stock block. im prb wrong but i want a little bit of street power. so what should i do help me out!
If it's being built for dd and u want some extra push behind it, I'd say change out the pistons for higher comp. And depending on your head I'd proly stick with some good ol fationed type r cams and get a good
tune. Bolt ons, I/h/e....
My first lsv was pretty damn stock, gsr pistons, stock crank, stock rods, and I had b16 cams and with bolt ons and a quick tune on chrome I was happy with my results and couldn't complain bout how much I spent for
180hp and with all the oem stuff.

dam thats not bad...well i have a stock ls b18b1... stock pistons, rings, rods, crank... with a jdm b16 head stock everything... just get a good valve train and ctr cams could i get to atleast 180?
Them pistons gotta go lol.
Definatly bump your compression up. Definatly get some good headers and and exhaust and intake. It's all in the tune man. Get a good tuner.
Everyones build is different. There's quite a few lsvtec builds on here that are budget builds and they did better than mine.

i got a lsvtec it was a fun build im slapping my srlf in the face for useing pr4 pistions again...the car is nice its running on a p28 chipped with a crome basemap from xecronon but i cant afford a good tune and they are booked till end of summer for sum reason the car is pretty slow my frineds ls beats me by a little i rev to 8 k he hits rev limit at 6800k
I'm not sure exactly how much I spent on my setup cuz I collected everything through out years of just running stock b18a1.
I'd roughly say I spent around 1000 in a 2 year span.
P28 with chrome is awesome! I cant complain, it's easy to learn on.
I'd be careful taking it up that high without a tune. If your currently running pr4 pistons your not going to get a whole lot out of it... Although... Some boost would do nicely ;D
just wait for the tune before u start beaing it too badly, atleast that way it'll run better and you'll get to enjoy it longer
good luck
