swapped jdm h22 into 93 si
so ive looked and looked for a thread, maybe i wasnt looking hard enough but i heard that the usdm ludes came with connectors to wire up the vtec and vtec oil pressure so that you dont have to buy a subharness from rywire.com
well i found the existing connector to run a wire from it to the vtec solenoid
but where is the preexisting wire for the vtec oil pressure?
your advice is greatly appreciated

The VTEC oil pressure switch plug isn't there, only the spool valve plug. If your motor came with a rhd harness you could just take the plug from it. It is a 2 wire plug, 1 light blue and 1 black wire, trace the light blue back to the big plug on the harness and take the plug apart and pull the wire plus the metal pin from the plug. Look at your harness plug where it plugs into the main harness on the firewall near the fuse box and you'll see an unused socket, just pull the rubber plug from it and insert the pin. Hook the plug up and ground the black wire to the nearest spot on the body and you'll be all set, this is exactly what I did for mine, very easy.
actually some preludes did come with vtec wiring in them. I think it was more or less the 96 Si models.
Op if you want I make Vtec wiring for the swap your doing. Feel free to PM me and Ill give you the info on it

What exactly is a spool valve. I have never heard of one of those.
And yes I do believe that there are actually 96 Si's that came with all the vtec wiring. Not just a spool valve, but I do mean that they were pinned at the ecu and all correctly

There are several green plugs. Green plus are used for the coolant temp on the front and rear t-stat housings.
Green plugs are also used on the oil pressure for vtec, plus the P.S. pump switch. Lol
Never seen anything in the helms called a spool valve, unless your talking about something in a different lingo.

Yup, my buddy's BB1 came with it prewired up from Factory so all he had to do is add wires from the VTEC solonoid side and plug it in to the connector(harness side).
yeah my vtech be spoolin and crackin dawg!!
seriously just do this and you wont have to worry about it not being there bypass it.

Seeing as JDM engines generally don't have the proper EGR equipment to be legally sold in the US; swapping the engine in, is illegal.
Go ahead and tell your insurance company you swapped it. And be prepared to be dropped from their coverage.
Or don't tell them. Then when you get in a wreck, don't expect any reimbursement.

^That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, for one, they do have all the same emissions equipment the only thing is the higher compression and slightly richer fuel mixture to make up for it, japan's laws aren't as strict since no one drives over there. Second, people swap engines all the time and not just for performance but because an import motor is always going to be cheaper and nearly as good as buying new, my dad did this for a customer at his shop and it was just some lady and her saab that had a bad engine.
