Default boosted em1?

ok just picked up a em1 and planing on turboing it. this is my first honda turbo build so i got a few questions.

been doing motor swaps and turbo setups for a good wile so not ignorant in the subject jus looking for people who have done this sucsesfuly and what is a good setup for a stock low boost around five pounds on the b16a2.

mods now:
skunk2 intake mani
and 87k on the stock motor
no other mods besides suspention

here is my question, what piggy back should i use hondata, chrome ect. what size injectors, any info that will help.

jus want a good daily that is a little faster than the other em1 outs here.

thanks

heres a pic of the whip jus for people to look at hah

waste of money and requires a lot maintenance IMO but its your car. Just go N/A. the engine will last you longer.

i have around $1500-$2000 into my oem rebuild / boosted 99 em1, making 300whp.

Now if i woulda put that much into N/A instead of boost, what would my whp be? MAYBE 180?

N/A is waste of money on b16s. Sure you can make good power but it costs alot more then going boost. And reliablity isnt a big thing, Just change your oil a little more often

Im tuned on Chrome, and using 550cc injectors.

Go boost. On b16's you won't make as much power N/A, but I love em1's Also use crome and get a forged bottom end so you wont go lol

I ran a drag kit on an fmu for two years with no problems.I can only imagine what some engine management would have done.I say get some big injectors that way if you upgrade later you dont have to purchase a new set and the tuner will be able to tune them correctly to run low boost.I also say run neptune/hondata or any management except AEm.I am running the aem setup now and its a pain in the *** to use compared to the others.I am on my third boosted setup on the original oem motor in my EM1 yes the same one that had the drag kit on it.

Hondata is my choice of EMS. Boost is also preferable.

i would try the forced induction thread might be more helpful

i went f/i with my em1 about 3 years ago and never looked back....

its all in your tune, but there are some things to be careful about before purchasing any thing.

what is your power goals (whp) ? if you plan on boosting more then 10 lbs you will need a diffrent map gm, hondata, omni ect.

what whp power you want will determine what turbo you go with from something like a 16g to a gt42 depends what you want.

depending on your power goals you might want to go ahead and buy forged internals possibly sleeve, pistons, rods ect... again depending on power goals.

you can get away with just arp headstuds if you decide to stay under or around 330 whp

but you can deffently expect to purchase injectors, fpr, fuelpmp, and at least a chippable computer running chrome or hondata s1,2,3 , aem ems, neptune, ect just dont buy a piggyback, afc, its not 1995 any more there are cheaper, better ways get a basemap.

if you search around on phearable.net theres alot of good info and items needed again the FI thread too.

I have a ram horn mani turbonetics t3/t4 52 trim. And picking up hondata s300 tonight hopefuly. Jus need a down pipe and intercooler piping and I'm good!! Thanks guys for all the good info

Dude's wether its N/A or BOOST what matters most is the tune. N/A over BOOST has no diffirence. Any can blow up without a good tune. The only difference i see is maintanance and WHP difference. The question for the OP is whats your budget? What are you willing to put up with? Seriously the only motor worth N/A to me is a K20. Anything else Boost...or bust. Youll be much happier with the WHP of boost for the money. Its cheaper and more power. /thread
