turbo prepping?

Default turbo prepping?

hi.

i may be adding a turbo setup to my 1995 honda civic ex. the only mods i have under the hood are the AEM v2 intake, high flow cat, catback exhaust, and some ignition stuff. i was wondering, i see a lot of cars stating they have been "turbo prepped". do i need to do anything to my engines internals in order to take the boost, or can i just drop in a turbo setup?

Um. Search.

You could do a straight bolt on, but I dont know how many miles are on your motor or what condition its in. Turbo prepped basically means the motor is built for a turbo. Stronger internals, lower compression, etc.

It kind of depends on how severe you want your setup to be. You can boost midly, maybe 6-8 psi and be ok, but if you want to be more aggressive you might want to think about building your motor some more. Key to boost is tuning, if your car isn't tuned right it will blow up. Look around in the forced induction forum for some more answers, tons of people have boosted D-series.

not to much. i want somewhere over 8 psi, but not too high that will damage the engine.

I think you should start thinking about hp goals instead of boost level. remember to get a good tune. some people have been running 10psi on a stock motor and have been fine, others havent. think about hp goals and hwo you plan on going about attaining them.

what would you do to the motor exactly to run around 10psi? new studs, rods, and products like those? or just ported, honed, and rebuilding it in that way?

stock internals can hold 10 psi, if its tuned really well, and by building they mean, rods,pistons, headgasket, head bolts, et cetera

i put a headgasket and arp studs in mine before i boosted...oh yea,and new fluids
