so igot a 1991 honda crx si that i bought for 800 dollars. it is in emaculate condition except for a few minor dings oh well lol. i want to rebuild the motor to handle about 3-400 whp. i am wanting to turbo the engine stock and i have read that it can handle anywhere from 180 hp to 220 hp on stock internals. i dont want to blow the hell out of my engine and not have a car to drive. i just want to know if i could get a turbo that i could use at around 6-8psi of boost on the stock motor and than when i rebuild it swap it out and use about no more than a max of 20psi if possible. the motor is a d16a6 btw. i have done alot of research but not really came to a good answer to this i hope that you can all help me with this!!

 

Nonvtec motor will hinder you're ability to reach your final goals, the heads just don't flow well enough without VTEC. It makes a big difference.

Your turbo sizing will be the factor for psi that you need to run to make xxx power.

The engine will be ok if you tune it correctly and have a solid setup with proper fuel.

It's really just a matter of doing the research and having faith in your tuner and your build. The car will do the rest.

 

U can boost it at 8psi but u need to have it correctly tuned

u can run 400 hp but the block has to be built to handle it

 

k cool thanks guys. so now i was wondering what you guys would think would be best for a turbo. i hear put a t3 on, but i was not sure if it will boost well at 6-8 psi and i am looking to make about 180 hp on the stock motor. the guy said that he had the top half rebuilt and engine is in good condition. and like i said down the line i will be rebuilding everything from the ground up. and i dont really have a budget i will save however much but hoping not to go over 4-5 grand.
