My '90 Accord Refuses to Start
Hey guys,
So I've searched the forums fairly rigorously, excuse me if I am posting a repeated question, but as far as I can tell, I'm not.
Anyway, so about a year ago (as summer started), my 1990 Honda Accord starts having trouble restarting. The symptons are this:
Turns over, fires up, dies. Sometimes I'd get it to start but most of the time I'd require a jump as my battery would go dead. If I did get it started, and drove it somewhere over a short period of time (5-20 minutes) and turned it off, it'd have problems starting again until I waited another 10 minutes or so.
Well, what eventually fixed this problem is replacing the battery, it was 2 years old, but bam, no more problems. All fall, winter and spring it worked OK. I was in -37 degree weather too, and it worked like a champ.
But now as we enter in the summer again, it is having probems starting. My battery isn't even a year old... The negative side cable that hooks up to the battery is a little loose, but I think its getting a fairly good connection. It is having the same exact symptons as last time. EXCEPT this time, it seems that if anything other then a truck jumps it, it won't fire up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am currently missing work today because of this and I love my honda accord and all, but this is getting ridiculous. Thanks!

my car was having the problem of starting and dieing immediately. it turned out to be the ignition switch. $50 from autozone. i actually dont think i tried jumping it.
i would check your ignition switch, starter, all the wiring for any cuts or abrasions, check your grounds maybe too.
also main relays have a tendancy to go out once it starts getting warm out. it probably needs to be changed/resoldered anyway even if its not the immediate problem.
thats all i can think of at the moment. if you have a haynes manual check the first chapter or whatever for common symptoms and fixes
