d16y7 oil problems

Icon6 d16y7 oil problems

I have a d16y7 in my 96 civic dx coupe and i put 4 1/2 quarts of oil in it and about every 3 weeks to a month the oils gone i have no leaks and blowing no smoke dose anyone have any suggestions or have had a simalar problem any info would be helpful thanks

it's one or the other ... you are either loosing it or burning it ...

it might mot be puddling while stopped on idle but it might be dripping while in motion ... how the undercarriage of your car? does it look wet from oil being blown all over your bottom?

there is no other reason for loosing 4 1/2 quarts of oil in 3 weeks than the 2 mentioned above (unless you got a bad neighbor who steals your **** at night

Then you don't have any oil problems. Great detective work! I would assume you have a leak somewhere on the head. When the car sits, it doesn't puddle because there is no leak in your pan or toward the bottom of the engine. But when the oil circulates as you move, you have a major leak that is just dumping oil.

there is no oil anywhere on the car engine is very clean period for having 170,000 miles and for losing that much oil but anyway i found the problem piston rings are bad

^. This would explain no smoke. My friends Miata has the same problem. No smoke but fills your car with a heavy engine smell if he downshifts in front of you.

where is oil leaking look at the oil pan..could be your rear main seal...
