Default Ignition Options (Type R swap)

Background: 00 Si with 98+ JDM Type R swap

I need a new distributor. The options I'm considering are:

MSD setup: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MS...RA&prefilter=1 and http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-32349/ and http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6420/

OR

Stock: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...S_786763623___ and some new wires (plugs are new)

Between those, I've heard good and bad things about MSD, the good being from a friend that races Honda Challenge with it and loves it. I've also seen on here that OEM is the way to go and leave it alone.

Basically I'm undecided and need some persuasion either way. I intend to order tomorrow as the car isn't running so hot (and it's my daily).

A lot of racers and enthusiasts say that the stock system is great and sufficient and it is. An MSD system allows you to do something you couldn't do with the stock ignition is increase the spark plug gap a lot bigger allowing a more significant spark for a longer crank duration.

But if you were spending money on a distributor, would you go MSD or stick to stock? The car is a daily driver right now with the intention of it being a track/play car in a year or so.

You never listed the spec on the engine. So I'm gonna assume it's stock.

The car being used a DD. And will properly see minimum track time. Save your money go with stock.

The engine is stock with only intake, header, and exhaust.

I'm not sure at this point how much track time this car will get, but once it is no longer my DD, it could be 6ish times a year

If I was going to do something other than stock it would be AEM coil on plug system.

you can go from dizzy to a COP system?

stay stock. besides the bad things that may happen it isn't worth it to pick up a MSD one when OEM will work more then perfect.

stay oem... i went msd only return to oem. after i destroyed the dizzy.
the oem internal coil is good for pretty much as much pump gas will allow until detonation just keep your money
have heard countless times from other tuners with same advice

I would definitely do the MSD wires, iridium plugs, cap, rotor at a minimum

I despise the word "dizzy" when referring to a distributor, so ghey.
