Default My engine fell and snapped my cv axel!!!!!

As i was driving couple days ago. I was going up a hill. Then I noticed that I couldn't get into first gear. I thought something was wrong with my clutch. But what happened is my engine mount snapped and the engine fell and landed on my cv axel. ****!!

if you have a swap engine i would recommend some aftermarket hasport or innovative mounts and just get a new cv joint. you can do the job yourself if you know something about cars

So....................?

Anyways how many mounts broke? Cuz there's 5 mounts total (including torque mounts) so if one breaks there's 4 others to prevent it from falling.

I have left my engine on only the rear mount and the tranny mount or the rear and the driver side mount on several occasions for days at a time; without having this happen.

So if two mounts keeps the engine from falling; that means you only had ONE mount?!??

i could see this happening if he only had the side mounts, and one of them fell out causing the motor to drop to one side... but then isn't the exhaust in the way still?

maybe some pics are in order.. i want to see how that is possible and how it broke the axle, seeing as the engine sits in front of the axles.

.....which matters because the exhaust can definately support the weight of an entire engine?

Ive had this happen to me.

I had just finished the swap with oem mounts (4 years ago when i was 16) and i guess two of the studs in the transmission case were stripped from previous owner and i tightened my mounts in and was only using 3 out of the 5 mounts and the studs pulled out of the transmission side thus leaving my transmission at a wierd angle.

It fell down on the passenger side enough to break the axle but the back mount and driver side mount kept it from getting too low.

The engine fell sideways because the right mounts snapped. Thus, it knocked out my right cv axel.

post pics! I've had a tranny mount snap at the weld, causing my engine to lean, but the back mount and the driver mount held it up for a monthish until I fixed it.

to replace the tranny mount? pshh 30 minutes? just support the tranny side, unbolt mount, put in the new mount and bolt it back in
