Cam gear tuning? what would b a good base tune maby 2 or 3 degree for this sick setup
im going on to the quater mile soon and i just wanna know how would i tune it just a little bit for this setup. im not sure if i should retard or advance, im currently at -3 intake +3 Exhaust and it sure feels and sounds way better then before but i just want to confirm with everybody, also redid the dizzy for timing when i did that
this is on a stock SH h22a4 usdm engine with 200k kms
Sk2 Intake manifold
70mm tb
Test pipe
Vibrants Axle back twin loop muffler
stock header and mid pipe
fpr @ 45psi (it felt alot faster after i gave it a little bit more psi can anybody confirm that it really is better for more psi?)
aem fuel rail
msd ignition box and aftermarket coil
no balance shafts
no power steering
vibrants audj timing belt tensioner added on with the stock piston type tensioner
i doub ill get any answers but it would REALLY help if i can get some info, im still learning
also how would i move my powerband up just a bit maby 4000rpm higher?
compression is at 205 right now using 94 octane

I would only adjust the cam gears on a dyno. Then you can truly see what settings help or don't help.
can you tell by the sound? my vtec sounds very strong when i shift into the next gear compaired to before with that setting now

Most people's butt-dynos are not very accurate or repeatable. You might be able to tell something with street tuning. Tune the a/f with a wide band, then adjust the cam. If it goes lean, it needs more fuel and thus will probably make more torque at that point. If it goes rich it will probably make less. It is not really reliable to use someone else's cam settings for your setup. Pirate shared some of his cam tuning info here:

thx, i dont get why did the exhaust cam not do anything, but i did go lean by alot i richened it back for it to run smooth at least
oh and it was misfireing a little bit at low throttle after i did that little base tune, i upped the fpr by 7-8 psi and no more misfires and also runs very nicely

i set it to +7 exhaust and -7 intake, its revving HARDDD now and it GOESSS but i have to use 94, also advanced the dizzy by +4 made it run even smoother (it was driving very hard and bad @ stock settings) also went up to 48psi of fuel pressure, feels AMAZING but i dont want to leave it at these settings incase if it makes my motor blow up can any1 tell me if thats even safe? lol
And to the extent that you feel differences, they're relative. A motor might feel stronger at RPM x, and while that might be taken to mean a positive change at x, it could also mean a negative change at everywhere but x.
very true
You're playing with fire. You have no idea what's going on when you jack with those settings and it won't be too long before you've destroyed your engine.
Tune your gears ON THE DYNO.
Tune your fuel ON THE DYNO.
Tune your ignition ON THE DYNO.
Think about what you're doing. How much is a professional tune versus a new engine?
