Stripped LCA to Subfram Bolt.. What to do now?
Hey guys, I was trying to put in a tie bar and the supplied bolt for it was m10-1.5 x 100, I didn't find out until after I stripped the welded nut behind the subframe that the welded nut was 1.25 size not 1.5. So now the welded nut on the subframe is stripped but I managed to get the 1.25 bolt all the way thru. I was going to put a nut on top of the subframe welded nut becauase the welded nut on the subframe was stripped but the thread on the new bolt is also stripped so I can't even thread the new nut to the bolt. Sorry if I'm not clear but if you understand my situation what can I do now? I don't feel safe driving around knowing my LCA is held on by a stripped bolt that might pop out of no where. I was thinking going to some shop and tell them to permanently weld the bolt to the subframe nut? Thanks.

doesn`t necessarily have to be welded back on the subframe if you don`t have access to a welder. just use the right size and pitch serrated nut.
or a castle nut. i have one missing from my trailing arm and its just some lock washers and a nut and its still there happened last year.
Thanks for the replies guys but every time I put in a new bolt, when it gets to the other side of the subframe, the stripped nut also strips the thread on the bolt so I can't put a nut on top of that because the nut won't thread into the newly stripped bolt.
no cut that nut out. the one welded on your subframe. THEN get a new nut to replace the one you hacked off. and apparently a new bolt too.
