JDM D15B and air conditioner
Hey guys. This is my first post here, hope i'm not violating any rules with this post. I searched around and didn't find much, I'm just curious about something. Whenever my A/C is running on my D15, it's really slow to rev, shifts hard (because it's 5 speed and the RPM's drop really quickly) and the idle is anything but steady. I realize that the A/C takes power to run, but it literally makes my car feel dead. It's pretty quick when the A/c isn't running.
So, how bad should A/C affect my engine? It seems a little extreme.

I just worry that my A/C compressor is either defective or garbage. The A/C blows cold, but it just seems to me sapping too much power and slowing the revs between shifts... I'm just curious if this is normal.
Ah. I guess I feel better now. I forgot to mention that it's an aftermarket A/C system.
Is there any way to control when my A/C compressor turns on and off? It'll blow cold, then the compressor will shut off long enough to let the A/C get noticeably warm, then it'll kick on again.

it's not designed to stay on constantly for a reason. if it did the evaporator would freeze up. once the thermoswitch see's i believe 37 degrees fahrenheit it tells the compressor to shut down. once temp comes up a few degrees it will kick back on again
That makes sense. Maybe the ducting has a leak from when the previous owner installed the aftermarket A/C system, because it gets almost warm before it kicks back on.
