Misfire or not start at all. Why are you asking?

it drives but when driving it has a lag in the the pickup. stock d16 new sparkplugs and wires. and sometimes it will start and run for like 1 sec and shut off. then start back up after a few minutes. it has a new fuel pump and fuel filter.

Secondary ignition problems usually cause misfire or poor performance during high engine loads.

Intermittent no starts usually aren't caused by a distributor rotor. Symptoms created by a distributor rotor are usually permanent, not intermittent.

i know that its not the distributor that is making it not start. its two problems and i thought that they might be related.

1. it has a lag in the acceleration when i am driving it

2 it fails to start sometimes

Did you gap the spark plugs properly?

Do you know the ignition coils are working properly?

hmm. where did you get the fuel pump and who installed it? the starting and then dying kinda sounds like what happens when you engage a fuel cut-off switch and then start the car, and the lack in pickup could be a result of a lack in fuel getting to where its supposed to be when you hit the gas. if that all started after you got the new fuel pump installed, i would get it checked just to make sure. it could be faulty. sometimes that sh*t happens.

hope that helps

I have a feeling the fuel pump and filter were replaced in an attempt to correct the current symptom.
