vtec wont activate...???
so i finally finished my b20vtec...finally got it on the dyno and they were tuning the lower RPMs first...and when they went to tune the higher rpms vtec couldnt cross over. we took of the valve cover check for the pin and o ring and they were there. Also check a seal/gasket that goes by the dizzy that my friend said if its not there it wont work, well that was there too. While the car is off and you run a positive wire to the vtec solonoid it "clicks" but if the car is on it wont do anything. any ideas???
P.S: my friend says since the head got line boreded that maybe the shop forgot to put a pin in the rocker arms...?
Also my other friend said that if you dont have the 10mm bolt that goes on the bottom right by the cam seals it wont activate either.... im kinda lost. because im missing 2 of the 10mm bolts that go by the cam seals side. He said that if you blow thru the hole where the 10mm bolt is (the 3rd 10mm bolt down, 2nd 10mm bolt going up) you will feel the air come out by the vtec solonoid.
NEEDD HELPPPP PLZZZ! Thanks HT.

i did put 12v to my vtec solenoid...and its "clicks" when the car is OFF. but when the car is ON and you try it, it doesnt do anything. We were doing this while the car was stil on the dyno and the tuner was on the labtop. so i doubt its the wiring honestly.
I'm not sure if you have come across this on H-T, but check it over.

What are you using to tune the car with?
im just using Chrome. nothing crazy.
i mean my friend is talking about by passing the oil pressure switch so we are going to try that, hopefully it works :-/
but the car had a b16a2 in it and everything was fine, no CEL vtec activated and it drove smooth. now that we swaped the b20vtec still not CEL's, rides smooth just not vtec. i used the same vtec solenoid from the b16. so i know it works.

did you guys check to see if the solenoid has power to the plug itself? were there any changes to the harness? assuming all grounds are there and in the right place, the next thing i would do is make sure there is no clog preventing the oil from getting to piston which locks the rocker arms together.
mhmm im not sure what you mean. clog where? the vtec solenoid gasket (screen) is brand new OEM honda. Also the whole motor is fresh out the machine shop, everything was cleaned.
