Default Mild b18b questions...

Ok guys i have a b18b block that im fixn to rebuild and im looking at what i can do to it to bump the power a bit.My goal with this car isnt to be the fastest just a little faster than a stock b18b would be. So far its stock 81mm bore, stock rods and crank, arp rod bolts and head studs. Complete rebuild kit, and stock rebuilt b18 head mated to a gsr tranny in a 91 ef. My questions are would it be any benifit to run say pr3, or p30, or maybe some p72 gsr pistons on my ls rods to bump the compression a little, which pistons would be better for me?Or am i going to make no extra power with a little higher compression without aftermarket cams? i will have i/h/e, as well as a 68mm tb on the ls intake manifold..the car is going to be running on a chipped obd1 ecu

thanx and let me know if you need any extra info

i agree, it dosnt have to be fordge, just get the stock rods shotpend .. but stock crt or itr pistons will make a nice upgrade for sure! also with the gsr tranny in a ef!! if you want to go the extra route slap a vtec head on

with ctr's and itr's you have to mill 1mm off each side of the small rod end. thats why its easiest to just go with b16 pistons.

ya i was thinking of going with b16 pistons due to the direct fit onto ls rods...so u think ill pick up some power with a stock head? people have been telling me that there is no point in going higher compression without cams, which i might due later down the road anyway.....will i be good with the b16 pistons with just a chipped ecu on 93 octane? any other fuel upgrades needed?

if your building it right now, why not just do the p30 pistons just in case in the near future you wanna slap some cams in there or even a ls/vtec?

should run fine, your gonna wanna run it on premium gas though 91+ octane. if you wanna mess with tuning it get a fpr and that will be helpful.

Listen to Trevor, I'm going high comp, cam'd in the somewhat near future along with port work and what not. P30s and 403s and be very streetable. I can't think of his name off the top of my head but a guy on here made 150whp on a LS with ITR pistons, DIY port work, I/H/E and intake mani. (Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, I'm tired lol)
